Eleven of the 14 songs on Time Will Tell are new; three were released individually in 2014, in digital format only. All music and lyrics by Sean Lewis.
TIME WILL TELL They say... time’s not on your side… but no need for desperation nothing’s sealed or certified… assess the situation is it a wonder? Sooner or later you hear the bell like your own personal thunder -- time will tell. Fork in the road… no time for conversation, yet another choice to make in the absence of revelation, another chance to take. And don’t you wonder? after living in a shell maybe now you’re out from under… time will tell. You can see the light shine, you can hear the angels’ song but time will tell the final story after time sweeps us along. They say time’s the eternal healer… but time, it waits for none you play the cards dealt from the dealer; every day the journey’s just begun. Is it a wonder? sooner or later you hear the bell like your own personal thunder, time will tell time will tell… time will tell. COPYRIGHT 2023, SEAN LEWIS MUSIC
HYPOTHETICALS What if there were reasons for everything we do? There’s so much that can never be explained and what if there were secrets that everybody knew? a universe in every drop of rain. You and I, mystified, hypotheticals aside what if it’s all up to you and me? so now watch and wonder, hypotheticals applied we know, we think, we just want to believe. All the reasons scattered ‘round… try to find the ones that never can be found when all the little reasons blow away we’ll just wait until another day. So what if everything that I’ve seen in your eyes had come to me already in a dream? We can only watch and wonder, hypotheticals applied and maybe we’ll find something to believe. You and I mystified, hypotheticals aside what if it’s all up to you and me? So now we watch and wonder, hypotheticals applied and maybe we’ll find something to believe something that we never want to leave yeah, maybe something... COPYRIGHT 2023, SEAN LEWIS MUSIC
SHOES AND SOCKS Well it’s a sunny afternoon -- tell me, what are we to do? it could take all day to just make up our minds which direction to go, looking high and looking low looking for a clue, looking for some kind of sign. We can take a drive, we can take a walk, we can go without our shoes and socks we can sit and watch this wild world go by we could use our imagination, dear, we can think of something good right here no rules, no reason we should be denied. Well it’s funny how this planet turns -- makes you wonder if we ever learn set it all aside for the sake o’ sanity I’ll be happy with your hand in mine, grab a blanket and a bottle of wine nothing else we need, just you and me, yeah yeah. We can take a drive, we can take a walk, we can go without our shoes and socks we can sit and watch this wild world go by we could use our imagination, dear -- we can think of something good right here no rules, no reason we should be denied. ‘Cause when you look at me that way , well, there’s nothing else to say I couldn’t tell you the time of day… We can take a drive, we can take a walk, we can go without our shoes and socks we can sit and watch this wild world go by we can bake a cake, we can make the scene get our eyes off the goddamned handheld screens take a look around and walk on the other side. Yeah, we can take a drive, we can take a walk, we can go without our shoes and socks we can sit and watch this wild world go by we could use our imagination, dear, we can think of something good right here no rules, no reason we should be denied. WHISPER SOMETHING Tell me something, here we are… how we ever got this far and though it always seemed a country mile your hand was in mine all the while. There was always something more… false horizons, distant shores and not always so easy to believe you always had a dream up your sleeve. When I whisper something into your ear your eyes, they give it all away when I whisper something into your ear your reply leaves nothing more to say. After all these days and nights, in the early morning light I see you and I know that as you sleep you shelter in the dreams that you keep. So many times, we were left behind -- left to find our own way the river bends and the road it winds, waiting for break of day. Oh, when I whisper something into your ear your eyes they give it all away when I whisper something into your ear, your reply leaves nothing more to say. COPYRIGHT 2014, SEAN LEWIS MUSIC
VOLUNTEER Look into the sky and tell me love, just what you’re thinkin’ of well, would I want to hear it? Would you be my volunteer? Look across the ocean; can you see if there’s a chance for me to steal a candy kiss, or would I be dismissed? Oh, oh, oh... the world is in revolution, but time stands still when you’re around And I can see The Grand Solution -- just say you will... the lost will be found. The world is in revolution, but time stands still when you’re around tell me darlin’, what’s in the stars that you see? is it you and me forever? All the ocean, all the sky above... that’s what I’m thinkin’ of our love would overflow them -- baby this much I know. Oh, oh, oh... The world is in revolution, but time stands still when you’re around And I can see The Grand Solution -- just say you will... the lost will be found So won’t you look into the sky and tell me love, just what you’re thinkin’ of well, would I want to hear it would you be my volunteer? MOONRISE Watch that moonrise… its eternity will hypnotize you something about it… what would this night be without it? And on a night like this, I think of our first kiss. I remember… anonymous letter, me the sender under this same tree… words flowed as the moon inspired me and on a night like this, I think of our first kiss. Still and silent, under silvery light another dream of her is born in the night. Hours later, the world has turned, the moonlight’s faded sunrise comin’ soon, but it can’t hold a candle to the moon what a perfect night, like this, it would be for our first kiss. Still and silent, under silvery light another dream of her is born in the night. COPYRIGHT 2023, SEAN LEWIS MUSIC
BLUE SKY PIE Some days, you know, they take a sudden turn and you might learn a lesson. There’s always something that you can’t believe ‘cause life always leaves you guessin’. Sometimes there’s just no telling what you’ll find the shapes and lines get blurry but even when there’s not a single clue well it’s not for you to worry. When simple things they go awry, we shake our heads and wonder why well don’t lose sleep on what it is that turns you ‘round and why some answers can’t be found, it gets so deep. If it’s not ours to wonder why, I’ll have another slice of blue sky pie. When simple things they wrap you in sticky tape, you’ve had enough it’s all gone wrong There’s so much more to think about so much it makes you want to shout -- just sing your song. Yet even you can leave me wondering -- I’d do anything to know you while we’re together in this circumstance, will I get the chance to show you? If it’s not ours to wonder why, I’ll have another slice of blue sky pie. COPYRIGHT 2014, SEAN LEWIS MUSIC
SO MANY WORDS There’s so much to say… can I fit the sky into a paper cup? a bold red-letter day that would be I wonder if there’s a way to know if we will ever have enough what all will it take -- I guess we’ll see. So many words, never heard, in pieces broken here we are, still in the dark, still unspoken. I see you in my dreams but that, I know, is all just in the past just a bit funny, though -- it seems to suit you fine. The Grand Master’s scheme was never something that was going to last we just flew on by the warning signs. So many words never occurred, never spoken here we are, still in the dark, hearts are broken. When the lost is never found… when hearts aren’t making a single sound we are left to wonder why there’s nothing left for you and I. There are so many words, never heard, in pieces broken Here we are, still in the dark, still unspoken. So many words, never heard, in pieces broken Here we are, still in the dark, still unspoken. THESE MYSTERIES Last night I got a message in my dream I still remember just how real it seemed the song was so familiar, but I can’t tell you why. It made me think of how the world turns through all its revolutions And what our eyes have seen... these mysteries. We all were gathered ‘round the midnight fire, having the kind of time that takes you higher something so familiar, maybe some déjà vu. It makes me wonder if the world learns from all these grand illusions all that our eyes have seen... these mysteries. Get me through the day… don’t let me hear you say it’s over ‘cause if we can find our way, I’ll be rollin’ in a field of clover... That night I got your message in my dream etched in my mind and soaked in heavy cream it’s all still so familiar -- more and more each day. But do you wonder ‘bout the world like I do, in my confusion? Oh, what our eyes have seen... these mysteries. Oh, tell me now, do you believe? Yeah, tell me how it’s gonna be… these mysteries. SHEEPSKIN DISGUISE Well there’s a wolf outside your door, he wants to come in you’d better know he’s not going away, he’s up to something and he will promise you the world ‘til he leaves you left with nothing. He’ll have you look one way as he expertly works the other and when he’s done with you, well he’ll move right on to your brother never mind what he’s wearing -- he works only undercover. He wears a sheepskin disguise, don’t be fooled by it and don’t you be surprised -- anything, he’ll try it if there’s an inconvenient truth he doesn’t like, he’ll falsify it. Yes there are wolves outside our doors, they want us to feed them and all the lies and deception that they’re selling, well, we don’t need them but you know that they won’t rest until they take away our every freedom They wear a sheepskin disguise, don’t be fooled by it and don’t you be surprised, anything they’ll try it and any truth that they don’t like, they’ll crucify it. SO HARD TO FIND She wonders why it seems so hard to find… the day is cold and clear and though they never had an understanding, they wouldn’t find it here. The night they met, he hardly said a word… she always thought he’d change so many ways to hold another hostage; he thought she’d stay the same. He used to hold her hand and try to understand her inside, years ago It seems so long ago. The countryside is like a picture book she had when she was young Now the days just seem to pass her by… and something feels undone. He used to hold her hand and try to understand her inside, years ago It seems so long ago. COPYRIGHT 2023, SEAN LEWIS MUSIC
A MILLION MILES AWAY Are you confessing, or second-guessing the way you ended up here today? The ashes smolder, every day older and yet you still believe that there’s a way. And if it’s seeming like you are dreaming, well who’s to say there’s something wrong with that? Some kind of knowing that keeps you going… there’s something more under your hat. Oh, it’s just a matter of time until the reason and rhyme, it all becomes so clear and you wake up, and you’re a million miles away from here. It's worth repeating, so stop the bleating -- you’ve got to find your own way around. The candle’s burning, and while you’re learning, the world waits for you to make a sound. And yes it’s all true, there’s only one of you -- what you can do, no one else ever will so stand alone there, the only place where it’s you, alone at the top of the hill. Oh, it’s just a matter of time until the reason and rhyme, it all becomes so clear and you wake up, and you’re a million miles away from here. I bet I know what you are thinking: “Tell me something new” well that same old stuff that you’ve been drinking is doing nothing for you. Oh it’s just a matter of time until the reason and rhyme, it all becomes so clear and you wake up, and you’re a million miles away from here… a million miles. COPYRIGHT 2014, SEAN LEWIS MUSIC
CRYSTAL BALL What are the words you think you need to hear? How could you hear them, having disappeared? Your silence seems to say it all and all I’m left to do is look into the crystal ball. All our memories, simply souvenirs a world away, some other hemisphere your silence, I cannot explain beware the storm around the center of the hurricane. Is it about apology? that’s all been said and done like yesterday’s setting sun. Did I miss the writing on the wall? Now all that’s left to do is look into the crystal ball. SON What will you become? Where will your life lead, son? I hold you now, a baby boy… simple and pure. But oh, the time will come the world will take you from my arms. But little boy, today you are my hope… my joy. How can I explain the ways of the world -- its glory, its pain -- son? I hold you now, a baby boy… simple and pure. But oh, the time will come the world will take you from my arms. But little one, today you are my hope my son. COPYRIGHT 2023, SEAN LEWIS MUSIC
